Mechanisms in CO2-enhanced coalbed methane recovery process

Injection of CO2 and subsequent desorption CH4 is considered to be the most efficient enhanced coalbed methane (ECBM) recovery technique date. Meanwhile, CO2-ECBM an excellent option for geo-sequestration extended period. Despite ongoing research efforts several field applications this technology, mechanisms process have yet fully understood. The heterogeneity, fluid interactions with coal, induced swelling, continuous pressure composition changes require outright insights optimal application technique. Furthermore, intermolecular CH4, their competitive adsorption on dry/wet coal surface, dispersion advection processes play important role in defining process.
